Parts of Your Water Heater
Emergency Water Shut-off Valve When your water heater starts leaking you want to be able to shut the water off fast. In the past, unreliable gate valves and compression valves were used. We always use quarter turn, lever handle, full flow, ball type, valves. Pressure and Temperature Release Valve Your water heater has a Pressure and temperature valve installed on the top or on the side. This valve is very important. It is designed to relieve the pressure in the water heater if the pressure exceeds 150 psi, or the temperature exceeds 210 degrees F. The discharge line from this pressure and temperature valve should be routed in a manner so that if it activates, the hot water discharged will not present a hazard, or cause damage to your house and furnishings. The line must be installed in a manner that it will drain dry. Water Heater Stand If your water heater is installed in a garage or storage room where flammables can also be stored, it must be installed on a stand as shown in the illustration at left. City codes require this type of installation. Water Heater Drip Pan Unfortunately most homeowners wait until there water heater starts to leak before they have it replaced. If your water heater is installed in the attic, on a second floor, or in a location where it will cause water damage when it starts to leak, it should be mounted in a drip pan as shown in the illustration at right. if you are looking for a Dallas area water heater contractor please call us today at 972-824-7774 or complete our online request form. |
