Toilets are the most commonly used fixture in the home and can cause high water bills when leaking or in the worst case damage to your home. We all know the sound of a toilet running hours after you flushed. And we’re equally familiar with having to jiggle the toilet handle to get it to stop running. These are all problems that cause serious water waste and should be fixed as soon as possible so you can stop water and money waste. If your toilet shows signs of any of these symptoms, call your local Plano plumbing company Harvey West Plumbing proudly serving the Dallas area since 1982.
The American Water Works Association estimates that toilets account for 45 percent of total water use in a typical household and that 20 percent of them leak. One leaking toilet can waste over 22,000 gallons of water per year. Also, If a toilet is allowed to leak continually, it may lead to structural damage to the floor around the base of the toilet, as well as possible damage to the ceiling when the toilet is upstairs.
High Water Pressure
High water pressure can cause a toilet fill valve to malfunction. If your pressure is above 60 psi, you have high water pressure.
High water pressure can be corrected by installing a pressure reducing valve.
Aggressive Water can cause a toilet fill valve or flapper to malfunction. If you have hard water, or water that is corrosive, you have aggressive water.
Aggressive water can be present in a toilet because of chlorine tablets.
